Happy New Year! It's 2016 and I'm kicking off with a brand new video for an old song. I wrote this song in 2002 and the recording was originally released on the compilation album "Strum Diddly - The Six String Superhour CD" (2002) a wild collection of guitar instrumentals compiled by the Six String Superhour, Heritage FM 107.3's popular Friday afternoon drive-time program. From full-on shred, to blues and acoustic hyper-folk, featuring giants of the Perth guitar scene like Cinema Prague, Vdelli, Jamie Page and Graham Greene, plus a host of incredible lesser known players.
The song title is a reference to the shade house at my old home, to which my wife was confined (at her own free will) during the recording sessions in the improvised and non-sound proofed home studio. After all instruments were multi-tracked, the mix down was then done at Oracle Recording Studios in York Western Australia, and my wife was able to resume a normal life back in our home!
Although initially reluctant to start this project, I've had a ball shooting and editing this video. I always thought it was just about the music, but it's 2016 and pretty hard to get anyone to listen to a track these days without an accompanying YouTube video immediately accessible at your finger-tips from your preferred device. So here it is. Hope you enjoy!
