I've just returned to Perth for the summer season after an amazing three months travelling and playing music around the north-west of Western Australia. I feel very fortunate to be able to choose a destination every year which I can visit for an extended period to combine work and play.
This year my wife Andrea and I decided we'd had enough of the 'cold' weather in August so I made a few phone calls (actually a lot of phone calls and emails) and pretty soon we had a few gigs in place and a rough plan so we headed off in our tiny caravan. Although we've been up north on many occasions in the past we still manage to see new things every time and it's great to just get in a totally different environment and follow the good weather.
Fortunately the good weather has followed us back to Perth. I'm gigging every weekend - Friday and Saturday evening at 3 Sheets Portside in Hillarys Boat Harbour - often with Douglass on saxophone and sometimes a guest artist or two. Sundays I'm usually at a few other venues around town and sometimes a bit further out as far as Lancelin and Mandurah. Check out my gigs page www.kimwainwright.com/shows and come down say hello!
