I was pleasantly surprised to be invited by The Blues Alley Radio Station to do this interview. They could have dug up some real dirt but instead chose to ask these questions...
-The Blues Alley Five Question Interview with Kim Wainwright. -
Q. When and where did you start playing music?
A: Some time in the 1970's in Busselton, Western Australia.
Q. Why Blues?
A: I had no choice. It hypnotized me and I haven't come out of it yet.
Q. Whose music influenced you the most?
A: As far as guitarists - Clapton/ Hendrix/ SRV/ Robben Ford, plus many many other great artists, ...songwriters, vocalists continue to shape me today.
Q. Who do you listen to now?
A: Everything I can get hold of in many genres, but when I hear the blues it's always an 'aha' moment.
Q. What advice do you have for young musicians just starting out?
A: Play play play. There's always a gig if you go busking. You'll get ten times as good playing on the street as you will in your bedroom.
